Heather got her replacement guitar yesterday, and I got my pedal and practice pad. Which is now wired up and working with the Rock Band drum kit. I still suck, but the feedback makes it much easier to get a feel for the bass parts, which is important as I move on to the hard difficulty level. I need all the help I can get.

I'm probably going to have to take some lessons to complete the game.
By the time you get to the expert level, you're playing the song note for note. There are Ph.D percussion people on the Rock Band discussion groups. It's apparently giving them enough of a challenge to be interesting. And while it is an electronic pad set instead of real drums, it's not much different from the trigger kits drummers practice with. (The pedal's crappier, and that's what I just replaced.)
The last thing you want in a random playset is Run to the Hills to come up on hard or expert.
